EU assigns almost 10 mln euros for strengthening state institutions in Georgia

TBILISI. April 24. KAZINFORM The European Union has assigned 9.73 million euros for strengthening state institutions in Georgia. The document was signed by Georgian Vice-Premier, State Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Giorgi Baramize and head of the EU delegation to Georgia Philip Dimitrov in Tbilisi on Tuesday, according to Itar-Tass.

It is important to the European Union to have a solid foundation of the relations with Georgia, and that requires strong state institutions; the program is bound to assist their development, Dimitrov told reporters.

According to the EU delegation, the program will be implemented in 2012-2015 and ensure the institutional development of Georgian departments involved in the negotiations on Georgia's associated membership in the European Union and a free trade regime. These include the staffs of the prime minister, the state minister for European and Euro-Atlantic integration, the Foreign Ministry, the Justice Ministry, the parliament and some others.
