European Commission Vice President Vivane Reding said that she had begun a thorough examination of the problems faced by victims and "will propose new solutions in early 2011, including new legislation. But we must also translate the law into reality; that is why I will look at practical measures to assist Member States, non-governmental organizations and individuals to implement laws, to provide victim support services and to access rights as victims of crime."

European Parliament Vice President Gianni Pittella recalled that "the bomb attacks in Madrid six years ago on March 11, 2004, which saw 191 victims from 17 countries, as well as the bombing in London on July 7, 2005, were some of the worst acts of terror perpetrated on European soil. Terrorism is an attack on us all. Terrorism is an attack on the very fabric of our democratic society." Kazinform cites EU press sevice. Find more at www.eurunion.org
