EU Commissioner J. Barrot, Kazakh Ambassador Y. Utembayev met

KAZINFORM  /Yerzhan Ospanov/ European Commissioner for Justice, Freedom and Security Jacques Barrot will exert every effort for promotion of the issue of simplification of visa regime for Kazakhstani citizens. He announced it at a meeting with Kazakh Ambassador to the EU, NATO, Belgium and Luxembourg Yerik Utembayev.

The meeting focused on the EU's visa policy regarding Kazakhstan. In this context the parties discussed Kazakhstan's migration policy concerning neighbor countries and the measures adopted within protection of state borders.

The Ambassador informed J. Barrot of Kazakhstan's activity on all three dimensions within the preparation for its chairmanship in the OSCE. Thus, our country is the only state of Central Asia providing financial support to Afghanistan in education.

Utembayev also told about development of legal base in Kazakhstan in particular adoption of the National Human Rights Plan and the Concept of Legal Policy. He stressed that growing political and economic ties created conditions for early solution of the visa issues for Kazakhstan. Along with this, he underlined high level of Kazakhstan's economic development and possibility of simplifying visa procedures for our citizens.

The EU commissioner welcomed Kazakhstan's measures on strengthening the legal base and added he would exert every effort for promoting this issue.

The parties agreed on maintaining the contacts and informing each other of the course of realization of the abovementioned issues for activating cooperation.
