EU one of the biggest partners of Kazakhstan - member of European Parliament

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Majilis Speaker of Kazakhstan Kabibulla Dzhakupov has met with chair of the European Parliament Delegation on cooperation with Central Asian countries Iveta Grigule in Astana today. The sides mainly focused on the issues of closer and deeper cooperation between Kazakhstan and Europe.

This is the first visit of Ms Grigule to Kazakhstan in her new capacity, the Majilis' press service says. Having noted that President Nazarbayev's multi-vector foreign policy is one of the country's strategic priorities, Kabibulla Dzhakupov pointed out it enables Kazakhstan to cooperate with many nations effectively. Iveta Grigule, in turn, highly commended the ongoing socioeconomic processes in Kazakhstan which, in her words, are called to improve the welfare of each individual and the society as a whole. The member of the European Parliament also stressed that the EU is one of the biggest partners of Kazakhstan in all spheres. Iveta Grigule underlined that it is of paramount importance to establish and develop trust-based relations between people. At the meeting, the Kazakhstani parliamentarian also said that the model of tolerance used by the Kazakh society grows stronger thanks to the policy of President Nazarbayev. Utmost attention was paid to the need to step up commercial and economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and the EU, as well as investment attractiveness and transit and transport potential of our country. Kabibulla Dzhakupov briefed the European parliamentarian on the day-to-day functioning of the lower chamber of the Kazakh Parliament and work done to improve Kazakhstan's legal framework. Iveta Grigule stressed it is crucial to develop bilateral inter-parliamentary relations and invited her colleagues from Kazakhstan to visit the European Parliament and expand contacts with the European Parliament Delegation on cooperation with Central Asian countries.
