EU thanks Russia for resolving gas transit crisis

MOSCOW. January 22. KAZINFORM The European Union is thankful to Russia for its efforts in resolving the problems with resuming supplies of Russian gas to Europe, Mirek Topolanek, the prime minister of the Czech Republic, which holds the rotating EU presidency, said in a telephone conversation on Wednesday with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, the Russian government press service reported.

"In the course of the talks, both sides expressed satisfaction with the resumption of natural gas supplies to Europe and the settlement of transit problem in general," the press service noted, Kazinform refers to ITAR-TASS. "Topolanek expressed gratitude to the Russian side for its efforts to resolve problems with the resumption of the transit of Russian gas to Europe. For his part, Vladimir Putin informed the Czech prime minister in detail about the parameters of the accord reached with Europe, both on supplies to Ukraine and terms of transit," the press service said.
