EU to finance green projects in Central Asia

During the 19th  Central Asia - European Union ministerial meeting, a joint road map for strengthening relations between Central Asian countries and the European Union was unveiled, Trend reports.

The paper was created in accordance with the agreements reached between the Central Asian heads of state and the President of the European Council on June 2, 2023, in the city of Cholpon-Ata.

The Roadmap, which supplements the present EU Central Asia Strategy 2019, strengthens interregional collaboration significantly.

The roadmap identifies key areas of practical cooperation, including bringing the transport infrastructure of Central Asian countries closer to the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T), developing critical raw materials, financing green projects in the region, as well as cooperation in the field of phytosanitary, veterinary measures, etc.

Following the conference, the chiefs of the Central Asian countries' and the EU's foreign affairs agencies issued a joint communiqué.

The next Central Asia - European Union ministerial conference is slated for 2024 in Turkmenistan.
