EU, WHO launch mother and child support project in Kazakhstan

ANA. August 25. KAZINFORM /Muratbek Makulbekov/ The European Union and the World Health Organization (WHO) are launching a two-year project on assistance to Kazakhstan in ensuring the access of pregnant women, mothers, infants and children to efficient medical services.

Kazakh Vice Minister of Healthcare Tamara Voshchenkova noted that the potential for development of the strategy on improvement of the maternal, newborns' and children's  health in Kazakhstan in accordance with the national reforms and international standards will be strengthened within the project.     

T.Voshchenkova stressed that the maternity and childhood protection is one of the main directions of the social policy in our country.

The Mother and Child Support project is implemented with the technical support of the WHO Regional Office for Europe and co-financed by the European Commission. As Representative of the Commission's Delegation to Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan Hubert Petit noted, the EU allocated EUR 4.5 mln for realization of the project.
