Eurasian Development Bank to invest heavily in Yota Bel
According to BelTA, the bank considers Yota Bel the main candidate for investments in the sphere of information technologies on the Belarusian market. The Deputy Chairman of the Board believes that the company is innovative, has a brilliant idea that is implemented into real business.
On 1 December Yota Bel launched Belarus' first LTE network. For the next two months the company will be testing the LTE network in Minsk and Grodno. Subscribers will be able to use the data transfer service for free. For now the coverage area includes primarily the central parts of the two cities. Potential users are invited to buy an LTE modem, which costs considerably more than a device required for accessing the Internet using the third-generation technology UMTS. Yota Bel has deployed 29 base stations in Minsk and nine ones in Grodno.
IOOO Yota Bel is part of the holding company WiMAX Holding Ltd, which provides WiMAX and LTE data transfer services using the Yota brand via daughter enterprises primarily in Russia and Nicaragua. In Belarus the company acquired two duplex frequency bands 30MHz each for deploying a data transfer network. Initially the company plans to develop a proprietary network in Grodno and Minsk.
