MOSCOW. KAZINFORM - The Eurasian Economic Union suggests strategic partnership to the European Union. EEU member states are busy preparing the relevant program, BelTA learned from Andrei Slepnev, Member of the Board (Minister) for Trade of the Eurasian Economic Commission, after the meeting held in Moscow on 30 March to discuss trade matters with representatives of the business associations of EEU member states.

The Minister remarked that more and more experts in the European Union are inclined to like the idea of cooperation between the European Union and the Eurasian Economic Union. Andrei Slepnev reminded that the idea to establish strategic partnership with the European Union was suggested during the stage of the Customs Union. "We are ready for interaction with the European Union," stressed the official.

Andrei Slepnev went on saying that proposals on EEU-EU cooperation had already been discussed at the governmental level. Now the idea is being prepared for discussion at the level of the presidents of the Eurasian Economic Union member states, BelTA reports.

Andrei Slepnev also said that in the near future the Eurasian Economic Union will sign important documents on cooperation with China. "A serious statement is being prepared together with China. The leaders will make the statement in May," he said.
