Eurasian National University establishes partnership with Jordanian universities

AMMAN. May 4. KAZINFORM. /Talgat Baimukhambetov/ Last week a delegation of the Eurasian National Gumilyov University headed by its Rector Bakhytzhan Abdraimov visited Jordan to establish working contacts with the leading educational institutions of the Hashemite Kingdom.

According to Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to Jordan Bulat Sarsenbayev, the delegation was received by Jordanian Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Waleed Al Maani, who told about the current state and development of higher education system in Jordan. The Kazakh delegation had meetings with the management of the Middle East University, Amman Arab University and German Jordanian University, University of Jordan. The President of the Middle East University expressed interest in cooperation in the spheres of science, education and culture and student exchange. President of the University of Jordan Khaled Al-Karaki said that during the talks with King Abdullah II on the issue of opening of the university?s affiliate in the city of Aqaba (in the North of the Red Sea) he reported on the forthcoming meeting with Kazakh delegation. Mr. Khaled Al-Karaki and Bakhytzhan Abdraimov agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding and developing a 4-year joint plan. They also agreed to exchange students, teachers, researches and experience. During the meetings the Rector of the Eurasian National University informed of socio-economic and cultural development of Kazakhstan, improvement of the national education system, increase of financing of the scientific sector. He noted that about 3,000 students study in foreign universities under the President?s ?Bolashak? Program annually. He emphasized that at the initiative of President Nazarbayev Astana would soon open a new university. Foreign professors will hold courses there.
