Today, Kazakh culture and information minister Aida Balayeva held a meeting with Chairman of the Board of Directors of Euronews Pedro Vargas David as part of her working visit to Brussels, Kazinform news Agency cites the country’s ministry of culture and information.

The highlight of the meeting was the signing of an agreement on opening a Euronews Central Asian office in the Kazakh capital of Astana.

For us, it’s a truly big event, opening remarkable opportunities never seen before to reveal Kazakhstan to the world once again. Kazakhstan is not only a direct heir of great nomad civilization with rich cultural and historic heritage, beautiful nature and wonderful people. Kazakhstan is a part of the modern world, where the unprecedented changes based on the progressive ideas of President Tokayev are ongoing. Kazakhstan is a country, which stands ready to share with the civilized world not only its unique spiritual and cultural heritage and social and economic potential, but also give its big heart and soul in the name of peace, said Balayeva.

The Euronews team is to air the Modern Nomads show about art, culture and way of life of Kazakhs, programs such as East-West Relationship covering business and economic events in the country, Voice from Central Asia, providing interviews with renowned figures of the region, a series of coverages Focus about major regional events as well as to conduct upskilling trainings and master classes among domestic media and press service employees.

This is a very significant step both for Kazakhstan and Euronews. I know that for Kazakhstan it’s (Euronews) the first global player in the news business set to create its hub in Astana. This demonstrates how the country is open to the world. For Euronews, it will the farthest office in the east. Kazakhstan is at the heart of Eurasian continent, thus demonstrating the strength of our presence not only in European countries but beyond, said Pedro Vargas David.

It was informed that an initiative was put forward by Euronews to become a media partner of the World Nomad Games set to take place in Astana this September.
