Euronews regional office to open in Astana

Today, Kazakh culture and information minister Aida Balayeva held a meeting with Chairman of the Board of Directors of Euronews Pedro Vargas David. The sides signed the first memorandum of intent on cooperation between Kazakhstan and Euronews, Kazinform News Agency cites the press service of the Kazakh ministry.

Opening of a Euronews regional office is a great opportunity for complex media coverage and raising awareness about economic, political, social and cultural development of Kazakhstan among the international audience of the channel, said Kazakh minister Balayeva. 

Balayeva believes that the Euronews regional office will provide great opportunities for Kazakhstani journalists. The meeting discussed in detail the holding of trainings and master classes for professional development of Kazakhstani TV channels’ employees.

Transition from discussion to signing of the memorandum of intent took a short time, which demonstrates the interest and commitment of both sides to productive cooperation. It’s essential for us to provide all-round support for domestic journalists. We will not only invite European journalists to Kazakhstan but also look for talents and new faces within Kazakhstani media, said Pedro Vargas David.

For her part, minister Balayeva stressed that there are all the possibilities in Kazakhstan to have professional and powerful editorial offices.

Today is a historic day. Opening of a Euronews office in Kazakhstan is a major milestone for the country. For us, it’s a great honor to be a part of your country project that will help Kazakhstan be on the global arena of media, said Assel Kozhakova, official representative of the project to Euronews office on Kazakhstan. 

The sides eye active future cooperation, including implementing joint projects and initiatives aimed at promoting the media sector and enhancing the international information exchange.
