European Union highly appraises Kazakhstan's role in Central Asia: P.Morel

BRUSSELS. March 16. KAZINFORM /Dimash Syzdykov/ The European Union highly appraises the role of Kazakhstan in Central Asian region. EU Special Representative for Central Asia Pierre Morel made it public at a meeting with Kazakh Ambassador to Belgium and Luxembourg, Head of the Mission to the European Union and NATO Yerik Utembayev held in Brussels.

The representatives of the EU and Kazakhstan discussed topical issues of interaction between Kazakhstan and the European Union. They laid special emphasis on the implementation of the EU Strategy on Central Asia and the upcoming EU-Central Asia meeting scheduled for April 7 in Tashkent.

P.Morel stressed the significant role of Kazakhstan in Central Asian region and the joint efforts of Astana and Brussels on settling conflicts during the Kazakhstan's OSCE presidency period. The European official also complimented the constructive format of cooperation between the special representatives of the EU and Kazakhstan emphasizing the necessity of furthering joint efforts on conflicts resolution.

Besides, the sides addressed the issues of further strengthening the bilateral cooperation.

The European official was briefed on the main provisions of the President's Address to the Nation reflecting the main directions of Kazakhstan's foreign and domestic policy for the future.
