Evacuation of Russians from Libya completed: ministry
MOSCOW. March 1. KAZINFORM Russia has completed its evacuation of Russian citizens and other nationals from the volatile Libya, Russian Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday. Kazinform refers to Xinhua.
The Russian Emergency Situations Ministry has evacuated a total of 653 nationals of Russia, the CIS and other countries on Feb. 22-28, the ministry said in a statement.
"The charter planes of the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry have made seven evacuation flights from Tripoli and Sirt to Moscow," the statement said.
About 511 Russian citizens in Libya were evacuated by Russian chartered planes, while other 25 left the country by planes of the Ukrainian Emergencies Ministry.
Sveti Stefan II carrying 126 Russians has left Libya on Feb. 28, the ministry said, adding that the ferry is en route to Malta, from where the evacuated Russians will be taken to Moscow by planes. Kazinform cites Xinhua. See www.xinhuanet.com for full version
