Events dedicated to 20th anniversary of Kazakhstan's independence held in Delhi

ASTANA. March 4. KAZINFORM The Kazakh Embassy in Delhi held a number of events dedicated to the 20th anniversary of Kazakhstan in February, the Kazakh Foreign Ministry reported.

Thus, a conference titled "Kazakhstan in the 21st century" was held by the Centre for International Legal Studies of the Jawaharlal Nehru University with the support of the Kazakh Embassy on February 25.

Kazakh Ambassador Dulat Kuanyshev in his welcome speech paid special attention to the current cooperation level between Astana and Delhi. He also emphasized the importance of the conference that gave an opportunity to assess the achievements of Kazakhstan in social, economic, cultural, humanitarian and democratic development during the years of independence.

Director of the Eurasian Department of the Indian Foreign Ministry Ajay Bisariya accentuated the importance of extending the trade and economic cooperation between India and Central Asia where Kazakhstan played a role of the regional leader. The Indian diplomat also paid attention to Delhi's interest in strategic partnership with our country in many directions.

A day later, on February 26 an essay competition was held among the students of the Jamia Millia Islamia University. The contestants wrote essays about the Kazakh-Indian relations, stages and years of independent Kazakhstan's development. Authors of the best essays were awarded prizes.

The competition was held for the first time in order to promote the Kazakh language among the students of the University.
