NEW YORK.  October 15. KAZINFORM /Aliya Altyngazina/ The UN Food and Agriculture Organization together with the World Food Program estimate the number of under-nourishing people in the globe  at 1 bln.

The global financial and economic crisis significantly worsened the condition of the poor people especially in the developing countries. Every sixth citizen of the planet faces deficit of food to date. The majority of the under-nourishing people are living in Asia, Pacific and Africa.

The UN experts state the weakness of the system of the global food security and call to its soonest reforming. One of the ways of fighting with starvation is investments in agriculture they say. Development of the agrarian sector will help overcoming hunger and poverty; it will also promote economic growth, peace and stability on the planet.
