Ex-judge sentenced to 6 years in prison on corruption charge

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Former judge of Specialized Inter - district Economic Court of Astana city A. Kenzhayev has been sentenced to 6 years in prison for receiving 750 thousand tenge as a bribe, the Financial Police reports.

According to the report, "in November 2013 the Financial Police revealed that A. Kenzhayev, the judge of the Specialized Inter-district Economic Court of Astana city, received a KZT 750,000-bribe from a businessman for delivering a favorable decision in a civil case". Prosecutor General of the Republic of Kazakhstan initiated a criminal case on November 12, 2013. On June 24, 2014 the Almaty District Court of Astana city found A. Kenzhayev guilty of receiving the bribe and sentenced him to 6 years in prison and property confiscation.
