Explosion of unknown origin kills one in Taldykorgan

TALDYKORGAN. October 25. KAZINFORM /Sandugash Duissenova/ An explosion of unknown origin killed a female and injured two males in one of the high-rise buildings in Taldykorgan.

The accident took place in the Zhetyssu microdistrict on Saturday. The blast shattered windows and doors of 16 flats of a five-storey apartment building. An apartment on the third floor, where the explosion occurred, was destroyed completely.

Arriving on alert, the employees of the Berkut 129 unit rescued three people from the fire. Two of them are in intensive care, and a female died in a hospital from burns. Policemen evacuated owners of all 16 apartments.

"At present the victims are resettled in a hotel. Some of them went to their relatives. Immediately after carrying out investigative actions we cleared the flats from construction rubbish and started repair work", akim (mayor) of Taldykorgan Saken Zhylkaidarov said.
