Expo-2017 additional impetus to economic progress of Central Asia, official reps of Finland
The delegation included representatives of Kazakhstan's business that is interested in developing cooperation with Finnish companies in the field of "green" and clean technologies.
The program of the visit to Finland included meetings of the Minister N. Kapparov with the head of the President's office Teemu Tanner, co-Kazakh-Finnish Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, the Minister for European Affairs and Foreign Trade Alexander Stubb, and Minister of the Environment of Finland Ville Niinistö.
During the talks N. Kapparov discussed the issues of bilateral trade and economic cooperation in the context of the upcoming state visit of the President of Finland Sauli Niinistö to Kazakhstan, joint "green" economy development projects in our country, and the introduction of clean and energy efficient technologies.
Officials from Finland welcomed the international exhibition "EXPO-2017" to be arranged in Astana stressing that the upcoming event will give further impetus to the economic development not only to Kazakhstan but the entire Central Asian region.
Thanking the Government of Finland for its support of Kazakhstan to host the "Expo-2017", the Kazakh Minister informed the Finnish side of the main approaches to the organization of the exhibition in Astana. He stressed that "EXPO-2017" will contribute to the development and use of alternative energy, would allow better representing the world's best technology and help promote energy efficiency programs and new solutions. According to N.Kapparov Kazakhstan is expecting active participation of Finnish companies in the preparation and holding of the exhibition.
Following the meeting the sides agreed on the preparations for signing the Kazakh-Finnish Action Plan on Cooperation in the field of "green" economy.
The important point of the visit was the participation of ministers N.Kapparov and Alexander Stubb in the business forum dedicated to the "green" economy, where exhibited were the modern water-saving technologies, new energy-efficient solutions in the engineering, metal and mining industry, the construction industry. The arrangement was attended by more than 50 Finnish and Kazakh companies working in the field of «cleantech». N.Kapparov informed about the progress of the Kazakhstan's Strategy transition to a "green" economy, "Green Bridge" initiative and invited the Finnish companies to actively participate in realization of projects under "Expo-2017" in Astana.
During the visit the Minister of Environmental Protection saw the cities of Tuusula and Porvoo, where he learned about the water facilities using the latest methods of water filtration and the use of groundwater for drinking water, modern solutions used in water treatment plants, manufacturing plants for the production of equipment for liquidation of oil spills.
