EXPO-2017 in Astana to weigh Kazakhstan's potential: V. Matviyenko

Valentina Matviyenko, the Chairman of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, said in an interview with Kazakh mass media in Moscow.
"This decision is important and highly expected. This is the reflection of Kazakhstan's growing impact and role in the international arena," she noted.
According to V. Matviyenko, from day one of its independence Kazakhstan was committed to the principles of democracy, provision of human rights and freedoms. The republic is renowned as the avid promoter of nuclear disarmament.
"Kazakhstan is one of the largest energy giants. That is why the decision to hold EXPO-2017 entitled "Energy of the Future" in Astana, on the one hand, is the recognition of country's merits in the development of energy and, on the other hand, is the way to estimate Kazakhstan's potential," she concluded.
