Families of Kazakh nationals killed in Azerbaijan Airlines flight crash to receive compensation
According to Vice Prime Minister Kanat Bozumbayev, the families of the nationals of Kazakhstan killed in the December 25 plane crash near Aktau will be paid 5 million tenge of compensation each. He said it at a briefing in the Government today, Kazinform News Agency reports.
“Each family received social and financial support. The expenditures related to the funerals and transportation to the accident site were covered by the akimats. Next week we plan to provide financial aid to these families at the expense of sponsors,” said Bozumbayev.
A final decision will be taken next week, he added.
Local akimats together with the sponsors are discussing whom and in what amount the compensation will be paid to. The point at issue is 5 million tenge.
The Azerbaijan Airlines plane which was flying from Baku to Grozny crashed near Aktau, Mangistau region, on December 25. The plane was carrying 67 people including 5 crew members. 38 people died and 29 survived as a result of the tragedy. Among the victims were six nationals of Kazakhstan.
Preliminary results of the plane crash investigation are likely to be released next week.
