Famous American actor and director John Malkovich stopped shooting film in New York to visit Kazakhstan

ALMATY. October 29. KAZINFORM /Yelena Ilinskaya/ Famous American actor, director and producer John Malkovich temporally stopped shooting his new movie in New York in order to visit Kazakhstan. He said he had come to Kazakhstan because of his friend Michael Fitzgerald who's in Almaty to take part in the 2nd United States- Kazakhstan Film Festival that started today in Almaty.

According to John Malkovich that is his first visit to Kazakhstan and he takes pleasure in being in Kazakhstan. As it was announced four movies would be demonstrated at the Festival; American-French thriller 'In the Electric Mist', Michael Fitzgerald and Gulnara Sarsenova took part in setting the film, 'Homeward Bound' movie, the work of J. Malkovoch, drama 'The Dancer Upstairs', directed by John Malkovich and 'Ripley's Game' where he starred himself. Besides, the Festival will show two films of Yermek Shinarbayev - 'Letters to an Angel' and 'Revenge'.

'We have become real friends with American film makers. I even can say that the life is divided now into halves, before acquaintance with Michael Fitzgerald and after. Thanks to him Kazakh movies became known in the USA', Y. Shinarbayev said.

Within the visit of Michael Fitzgerald and John Malkovich to Kazakhstan a number of events was held in the city. Today the guests open the Festival and on Sunday they are going back.
