FAO conference to focus on food waste and losses, state agriculture in Europe and Central Asia
BUCHAREST. KAZINFORM Food waste and losses, the state of food and agriculture in Europe and Central Asia, the future of family farming to be the focus of discussions in Bucharest.
FAO will convene the 29th Regional Conference for Europe - at the Palace of the Parliament in Bucharest, Romania - from 2 to 4 April 2014. The conference is expected to attract government ministers and senior officials from countries across the region. A Ministerial Round Table on 3 April will examine ways of reducing food waste and losses in the region, where a significant amount of the food being produced is lost along the food chain. Delegates will also discuss the current state of food and agriculture in Europe and Central Asia, and will look at strategies for maximizing the potential of small-scale, family farming to feed expanding populations, the FAO official website reports.
