MOSCOW. April 28. KAZINFORM A ban on importing farm produce imposed by one Customs Union member state will automatically extend to all the Customs Union member states. The relevant agreement was reached at a meeting of the chiefs of the food safety watchdogs of the Customs Union member states in Moscow, BelTA learnt from the Federal Veterinary And Phytosanitary Monitoring Service of Russia.

The Belarusian delegation was led by First Deputy Director of the Department for Veterinary and Food Control of the Agriculture and Food Ministry Yuri Pivovarchik.

The parties discussed changes to the uniform procedure of holding joint inspections and selecting product samples that are subject to veterinary control; implementation of restrictions on import of the regulated products from third countries; data exchange between the parties; internal domestic certification of regulated products imported from third countries and produced in the Customs Union, etc.

The parties agreed that if one of the Customs Union member states imposes temporary restrictions on the import of regulated products from third countries, these restrictions will automatically extend to the entire territory of the Customs Union. The party that introduces restrictions shall promptly post the reasons for the move on its official website in the restricted access mode and send a written notification to the other two countries. The same procedure applies to the lifting of restrictions.

Upon the instruction of the other member states Russia has prepared a draft regulation on using electronic certification of products moving across the Customs Union territory.
