Father of undefeated WBA champion Gennady Golovkin passes away

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - It is with great sadness that Kazinform informs that Gennady Golovkin's father passed away on Tuesday in Karaganda city.

The 69-year-old Gennady Golovkin had serious heart problems that caused the death, Kazinform refers to Vremya newspaper..

Together with wife Elizaveta, Golovkin, Sr. raised four sons. Two of them died early, but the parents were very proud of boxing champion Gennady and his trainer Maksim.

Gennady Golovkin is set to be buried on February 20.
