Figure skater Sofia Samodelkina claims bronze at 2025 World Winter University Games

Figure skater Sofia Samodelkina claimed bronze medal following women’s short and free programs having scored 190.96 at the 2025 FISU World Winter University Games in Torino, Italy, Kazinform News Agency reports citing Sports.kz.

Gold medal went to Japanese Rion Sumiyoshi, who scored 204.29. Another Japanese figure skater, Mone Chiba, bagged silver medal with 203.85 points.

17-year-old Sofia Samodelkina is a Russian-born figure skater. In summer 2023, she took a decision to give up her citizenship and move to Kazakhstan. In May 2024, her transition was officially approved. In August 2024, the figure skater became a member of the national team.

As reported, biathlete Nikita Akimov claimed third gold  for Team Kazakhstan at the 2025 FISU World Winter University Games. Another biathlete Arina Kryukova won bronze medal.
