Fires continue to rage on Spanish holiday island

PARIS. August 14. KAZINFORM Spanish firefighters continue to battle wildfires which have ravaged hundreds of hectares on both the mainland and the Canary Islands.

Two firemen have died in the last 48 hours as exhausted crews no sooner get one blaze under control than another ignites.

Up to 11% of land on La Gomera has been destroyed prompting the Canary Island regional government to call for Spain to boost its firefighting capacity.
