First day of National Census: 1.5 mln people recorded

ASTANA. February 26. KAZINFORM /Bauyrzhan Mukanov/ Over 1 mln 512 thousand people have been recorded to date, that makes 96% of the counters? measured daywork. Press Secretary of the RK Statistics Agency Dinara Zhandayeva has made it public today, Kazinform reports.

?The most active regions are Almaty, Atyrau, West Kazakhstan, Karaganda, Kostanay, Kyzylorda and Mangystau?, she added. ?The main difficulty the counters face is absence of people at their homes since most of them work till late at night. The working day of the counters last from 8.00 till 23.00?, D. Zhandayeva said. The Second National Census of Kazakhstan is being held under the motto ?Everyone is important!?. It was started yesterday, February 25 and will last till March 6, 2009. KZT 6 bln are expected to be spent for the event. The results of the census will be published by autumn, 2009.
