First kilometers of West Europe - West China road opened for traffic in Zhambyl region

ASTANA. November 5. KAZINFORM First part of the "West Europe - West China" transit corridor was opened for traffic in Zhambyl region, the press service of the Kazakh Ministry of Transport and Communications reports. This section of the road was constructed by "Kazakhdorstroy" LTD - first company started laying cement concrete pavement.

The length of the Kazakh section of "West Europe - West China" transcontinental corridor is 2 787 km. 2 452 km out of it will be reconstructed.

In Zhambyl region 480 km of the road is to be reconstructed. Taking into account the current state of the road, construction of 4-line highway of the first technical category with 283 km of cement concrete pavement is planned.

As of November 4, 2010 1 461 units of equipment and 9 762 people are involved in the road construction in the region. 5 271 people out of it are local residents.
