First large Children’s Autism Centre opens its doors in Kostanay

The country’s first large Children’s Autism Centre opened its doors in Kostanay. Governor Kumar Aksakalov took part in the opening ceremony, Kazinform news Agency reports.

The centre is specifically created to treat some 150 children with mental disorders and autism. Over 100 specialists will help children undergo rehabilitation and socialization.

There are 250 children with mental disorders in the region. Half of them live in the city of Kostanay.

The centre is also designated to help families of children with autism.

The centre initiated by Kamkorlyk Public Fund is developed with the support of the Samruk Kazyna Trust Fund.

There are 12 classes equipped with modern furniture. Each child will attend the centre for 16 weeks. The centre specializes in providing individualized ABA therapy for children.

As of today, some 50 kids attend the centre.
