Flag of Year of People's Assembly hoisted in Almaty (PHOTO)

ALMATY. KAZINFORM - A flag of the Year of People's Assembly of Kazakhstan was raised today in Almaty during the event called "Start of the Year of People's Assembly of Kazakhstan", which was held in all the country's regions.

Legendary Olympic skier Vladimir Smirnov, Olympic weightlifting champion Maya Maneza and World boxing champion Nazym Kyzybai were honored to hoist the flag of the event. Mayor of Almaty Akhmetzhan Yessimov read the address of President Nursultan Nazarbayev to all the people of the country. "The Year of People's Assembly of Kazakhstan begins in all the regions of the country today. We will dedicate this year to our values: independence, unity, peace and accord of the people of Kazakhstan. Presently, the People's Assembly of Kazakhstan is an institute for representation of our people, locomotive of our society," the President said. The President congratulated all the people of Kazakhstan on the holiday and wished everybody good health. "May the spirit of independence, unity and accord give us energy and believe in ourselves! We are one nation, one country, one destiny. Our Kazakhstan way is the way of peace, accord and development," N. Nazarbayev noted.
