Flooding prompts state of emergency in part of Aktobe region
A state of emergency has been imposed in Oiyl district of Aktobe region in western Kazakhstan, Kazinform News Agency correspondent reports.
Rapid snowmelt in the region caused flooding that affected Oiyl district, especially Ekpetal village. Power outages have been reported in several villages in the district.
Akim (head) of the district Askar Kazybayev urged residents to evacuate to safety.
He revealed that villages of Karatal, Karasu, Amangeldy, and Koptogai run the risk of getting affected by ongoing floods, adding that blackouts were reported in Bersiy, Saralzhyn, Kaiyndy and Oiyl districts.
Aktobe city as well as Kobdin, Mugalzhar and Temir districts introduced the state of emergency a day earlier.
