Food security - significant constituent of country?s national security: State Secretary

KAZINFORM /Sergey Kuznetsov/ Secretary of State Kanat Saudabayev visited a range of production facilities, education and healthcare institutions within his working trip to North Kazakhstan region. He paid special attention to the issue of food provision in the region and prices for basic foodstuffs within the world financial crisis, Kazinform reports.

The State Secretary met with heads of the national cultural centers of the region on Friday. The Memo on mutual comprehension and cooperation in preservation of social stability in the region was signed between political parties, national cultural centers, religious organizations and mass media of North Kazakhstan region. At the end of the visit K.Saudabayev held a briefing for republican and local mass media. The State Secretary noted that the policy of the Head of the State is supported in the region that is very important today. Talking about the food security in the region K.Saudabayev noted that the prices for basic foodstuffs has notincreased in the region. It became possible due to the right strategic policy of the President who paid special attention to the development of agriculture and rural areas. In this regard all types of provisions are produced in the region. The provision is an important strategic resource and food safety is a significant constituent of the national security of the country. Kazakhstan has advanced in this direction lately; in this regard the world financial crisis problems were less suddenness for us. The State Secretary noted that North Kazakhstan region makes great contribution to the food security of the country. Grain of high quality is produced here and agricultural enterprises are equipped with advanced technologies.
