Ford recalls about 370,000 discontinued vehicles

According to Xinhua, the recall, which covers vehicles from model years 2005 through 2011, includes about 355,000 vehicles sold in the U.S. market and another 15,000 in Canada, according to a report by the Detroit News.

The lower intermediate steering shaft could corrode and potentially result in loss of steering, said the Dearborn-based automaker, but stressed that it is not aware of accidents or injuries related to the recall.

Dealers will inspect the recalled vehicle, replace the lower intermediate steering shaft and secure a lower steering column bearing and replace the upper intermediate steering shaft if necessary.

Ford no longer produced the Crown Victoria, Mercury Grand Marquis and Lincoln Town Car models.
