Foreign education of Kazakhstani militaries
ASTANA. February 24. KAZINFORM Prospects of international cooperation in military education were on the agenda of the working meetings with the military attaches of a number of foreign countries in the RK Defense Ministry, Kazinform reports.
According to the Ministry?s press service, in the second half of February the Head of the Chief Department for Training Personnel Abroad of the RK Armed Forces has held a number of meetings with the military representatives of France, Lithuania, Canada and the Republic of Turkey. The meetings aimed at discussion of the draft Plan on training the military servants of Kazakhstani army in military-educational institutions of these countries for the current and next academic years.
Today?s meeting of Head of the Chief Department for Training Personnel Abroad, Colonel Igor Mukhamedov with Military Attachй under the Embassy of Turkey in Kazakhstan, Colonel Fikret Kahraman was devoted to summing up the results of bilateral cooperation in military education. Over 150 Kazakhstani militaries studied in military-educational institutions of Turkey from 1993 to 2008. 47 people are studying there at present.
At the meeting with Military Attache at the French Embassy in Kazakhstan the parties focused on possibility of organization on courses for the specialists of the automated system of forces control, instructors on parachute training and special action units, specialists in mine-laying and mountain training. During the period from 2004 to present time 29 Kazakh military servants have passed trainings in military institutions of France. 3 representatives of the RK Army studied in France last year.
Beginning from 2004 36 Kazakhstani militaries have studied in military-educational institutions of Canada. Issues regarding draft Memorandum of mutual understanding between the RK defense Ministry and the Ministry of National Security of Canada in military training of Kazakhstani soldiers were discussed at the meeting with Advisor to Military Attache of Canada to the Russian Federation.
Cooperation of the Kazakh and Lithuanian Armed Forces started this year on the basis of the Agreement on partnership in military sphere. Two Kazakhstani militaries are studying in the Lithuanian military-educational institutions at present. In whole, Kazakhstan plans to send 11 military servants to Lithuania for studying.
