Formation of Customs Union discussed in Almaty

ATY. October 28. KAZINFORM /Yekaterina Ionova/ A workshop on discussion of formation processes of the Customs Union was held Wednesday in Almaty.

According to Kazakh Vice Minister of Industry and Trade Zhanar Aitzhanova, today free trade zone is almost established between the countries of the Eurasian economic community. It supposes free movement of goods between the countries, i.e. free trade.

The participants of the workshop discussed the draft project of the Customs Union that will start functioning from January 1, 2010. Special attention was paid to the issues of sanitary and phytosanitary control at the external and internal borders of three countries (Kazakhstan, Russia, and Belarus), system VAT implementation on imports within the Customs Union, customs control over movement of goods within the Union and import of goods from third countries.

The organizers of the workshop are the Commerce and Industry Chamber of Kazakhstan and the Kazakh Ministry of Industry and Trade.
