Four people injured in road accident caused by police officer in St Petersburg
ST. PETERSBURG. January 1. KAZINFORM Four persons were hurt in a traffic accident caused by a police officer in St. Petersburg overnight to Monday, a spokesman for the local department of the Russian Investigations Committee told Itar-Tass.

According to the spokesman, Andrei Rimarenko, 43, an officer of the detention centre for foreigners, was drunk while driving his personal VAZ-2112 car.
His car went into the oncoming lane and rammed a Chevrolet car. “As a result, the officer and three women who were in his car were hospitalized in grave condition,” the spokesman said. A criminal case was opened against Rimarenko on charges of violation of traffic rules.
Local police launched a check into this accident. “In case the officer is found guilty, he will face disciplinary punishment up to discharge from enforcement bodies,” a spokesman for the St. Petersburg police department told Itar-Tass.
