Four presidential candidates continue race

ASTANA. March 3. KAZINFORM /Askar Bimendin/ Today at 12:01 a.m. the time for conducting election campaigns for 4 registered presidential candidates began. Chairman of the Central Election Commission Kuandyk Turgankulov made it public at the regular session of the Commission.

The CEC made a decision to deny registration of Salim Oten, Guldana Tokbayeva, Zhaksybay Bazilbayev and Serik Sapargaliyev as candidates for presidency.

According to Bakhyt Meldeshev, three candidates - Kanat Turgaldiyev, Mussagali Duambekov, Kyrmangazy Rakhmetov - withdrew from the race on their own initiative the day before the end of the registration period.

Thus, there are only 4 registered presidential candidates to participate in the elections. These are Nursultan Nazarbayev, Mels Yeleussizov, Gani Kassymov and Zhambyl Akhmetbekov.

As earlier reported, the election campaign will last till April 1. The early presidential elections are scheduled for April 3.
