Freight traffic activity between Kazakhstan and Belarus increased by 8.5 percent thanks to CU
ASTANA. March 29. KAZINFORM /Zhanna Korkitova/ The dynamics of freight traffic activity between Kazakhstan and Belarus increased by 8.5 percent in 2010, the press service of 'Kazakhstan Temir Zholy' JSC informs.
It was announced on March 28 during the visit of the delegation of public association 'Belarusian Railways' headed by Anatoly Sivak to Kazakhstan.
The volume of transportation between Kazakhstan, Belarus and Russia has shown rapid increase due to establishment of the Customs Union and Single Economic Space and change of tariffs.
"The dynamics of freight transportation between Kazakhstan and Belarus increased by 8.5 percent in 2010 comparing to 2009. The transportation by railways between Kazakhstan and Belarus during January and February 2011 increased by 25 percent compared to the same period of the previous year," the statement reads.
According to the company's officials, it is a result of establishment of the Customs Union.
