A prestigious dialogue platform

The Doha International Forum is a global platform for dialogue, bringing together political leaders to discuss critical global issues and forge innovative and effective connections. Under the slogan “Diplomacy, Dialogue, Diversity” the forum promotes the exchange of ideas and discussions aimed at developing action-oriented policies and recommendations.

The forum, established in 2000, is held annually under the patronage of the State of Qatar. Since its inception, it has served as a platform for dialogue among world leaders, experts, and representatives of civil society, aimed at crafting collaborative solutions to global challenges.

“In a world where borders are porous, our problems and solutions are interconnected,” reads the official website of the event.

Each forum traditionally gathers heads of state and government, foreign ministers, parliamentarians, scholars, business leaders, and NGO representatives who exchange diverse perspectives and develop actionable ideas.

The imperative of innovation

This year marks the 22nd forum under the theme “The Innovation Imperative”. Participants will discuss how innovative approaches can address pressing issues in areas such as security, economics, climate, and the global order.

“At the Doha Forum, we bring together world leaders for critical dialogue on global issues, from technology governance to peacebuilding. Our sessions highlight the power of collaboration in shaping solutions that drive positive global change,” said Maha Al-Kuwari, General Manager of the Doha International Forum.

Special emphasis will be placed on innovation as a key factor in overcoming modern challenges and ensuring sustainable development.

Distinguished guests

According to the organizers, this year’s event will host over 4,500 participants from more than 150 countries, with more than 300 speakers, including seven heads of state. Among them is the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, who confirmed his participation in late October following an invitation from the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

During the forum in Doha, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev will lead a special session to share his vision on countering contemporary threats by emphasizing the role of “middle” powers. This was announced by Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Qatar, Arman Issagaliyev, in an interview with Gulf Times.

“The President’s participation in the Doha Forum aligns with Kazakhstan’s long-term strategic plans to accelerate innovation and promote technological advancement,” said the ambassador in the interview.

At the panel session “The Innovation Imperative: Governing Technology for Global Development” Kazakhstan’s Minister of Digital Development, Innovations, and Aerospace Industry, Zhaslan Madiyev, is scheduled to speak. Meanwhile, the session “Central Asia and the New Era of Global Energy Security” will be opened by the Chairman of the KAZENERGY Association, Magzum Mirzagaliyev.

On the eve of the forum, on Wednesday, Qatar hosted the Doha Forum Youth Edition 2024, which brought together 150 young speakers from 90 countries.

The previous forum, held in Qatar’s capital in December 2023, gathered 3,500 guests from over 120 countries.
