The three-day meeting in Cison di Valmarino in northeastern Italy, which will also feature major developing nations, will seek solutions to sharp rises in the price of agricultural goods and the problems of providing food security to people around the world. G8 leaders agreed in June last year that its members should work together to address global concerns over the price and supply of food, paving the way for the landmark meeting. Although the global economic crisis has eased price pressures from levels that sparked food riots in 2008, Italian Agriculture Minister Luca Zaia said there remained a need to overhaul global food strategy; Kazinform cites RIA Novosti.
