GCC Secretary General to visit Astana
At the meeting the Secretary General was received an invitation of Kazakh Minister of the External Affairs Marat Tazhin to pay a working visit to Kazakhstan. He accepted the invitation with gratitude and expressed readiness to pay a working visit to Astana in the near future; the press-service of the Ministry said.
During the meeting the Secretary General highly appraised the integration initiatives of President Nursultan Nazarbayev. He highlighted the proposals of the Head of the State on creation of new mechanisms for regional integration including those on implementation of common world currency.
According to him he intends to share experience of the Gulf Cooperation Council member-states in formation of common market, creation of the Monetary Union and other national structures. At the same time the agricultural and innovation projects of Kazakhstan are of certain interest to the GCC heads.
Lama Sharif underlined that Kazakhstan attaches great importance to the cooperation with the GCC and expressed hope that the financial and investment funds of the Gulf will take an active part in implementation of the project on creation of the Caspian power hub in Aktau.
The Gulf Cooperation Council comprises six oil-producing countries as Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates which common GDP amounts to USD 823 bln.
