General Knud Bartels: Kazakhstan - important and stable partner for NATO in Central Asia

BRUSSELS. February 3. KAZINFORM /Dimash Syzdykov/ Head of Kazakhstan's Mission to the NATO, Ambassador Yerik Utembayev has held a meeting with Chairman of the NATO Military Committee, General Knud Bartels in Brussels.

The Head of Kazakhstan's Mission informed the Chairman of the NATO Military Committee of Kazakhstan's events within the programs of cooperation with the North Atlantic Alliance, in particular on the Individual Partnership Action Plan, or IPAP as well as implementation of the second cycle for 2009-2011.

The Kazakh diplomat emphasized that Kazakhstan actively uses the educational potential of the NATO.

Y.Utembayev also outlined that Kazakhstan pays priority significance to development of the training centre of the Partnership for Peace (KAZTSENT).

Y.Utembayev informed Knud Bartels of development of draft third cycle of the IPAP for 2012-2013. He emphasized that solution of a task on creation of modern armed forces plays the important role within the Kazakhstan-NATO cooperation.

In this connection Knud Bartels noted positive development of the Kazakhstan-NATO development and emphasized that Kazakhstan is an important and stable partner for the NATO in the Central Asian region, taking into account the situation in Afghanistan, and highly appraised the peacekeeping capacity of the country.
