German investments in Kazakhstan hit record $770mln – President Tokayev

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has met today with Cathrina Claas-Mühlhäuser, Chairwoman of the Eastern Committee of the German Economy, Chairwoman of CLAAS company (GFR). The sides discussed the prospects for further deepening the economic cooperation of the countries, the press service of Akorda reported.

Germany is a strategic partner of Kazakhstan in the European Union, said the Kazakh President.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev pointed out positive tendencies in the development of trade-economic relations, and growing interest of German business in expanding its presence in Kazakhstan.

According to him, direct German investments in Kazakhstan rose by 64% last year, having achieved record $770 million.

The meeting also focused on the issues of cooperation in agricultural sector.

The Kazakh President reminded of his initiative to establish a regional center for sustainable land husbandry. In his opinion, the center will contribute to all-round utilization of the country’s agricultural potential, implementation of innovative technologies and their commercialization.

The President highly praised the contribution of CLASS assembly plant to the development of Kazakhstan’s agricultural potential.
