Germany hosts Kazakhstan Film Week

sp;BERLIN.  November 14. KAZINFORM  /Yulia Chernova/ Germany hosts the Week of the Kazakhstan Film. According to the Kazakhstan Embassy in Berlin, the event is organized and held within the Year of Kazakhstan in Germany during the period from November 10 to November 15, 2009 in the cities of Berlin and Cottbus.

The film festival allowed the German audience to get acquainted both with classical and modern films of Kazakhstan. The German people were greatly impressed with Kyz Zhibek shot by Sultan-Akhmet Khodzhikov forty years ago. The Germans enjoyed the picture which was accompanied with traditional instrumental music, witnessed wonderful story of love between Zhibek and Tulegen and the history of the Kazakh people in the XVI-XVII centuries, its unique culture, traditions and colorful landscape. The viewers could also talk to main characters of the film - Meruert Utekeshova and Kuman Tastanbekov - who had arrived to the festival.

Among the modern films demonstrated at festival were Pryzhok Afaliny by Eldar Urazbayev, Kochevniki by Sergey Bodrov, Ivan Passer and Talgat Temenov.

Welcoming the guests Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Germany Nurlan Onzhanov noted that film was one of the most efficient tools of getting in touch wirh the culture and everyday life of other nations.

A representative of the Senate of Berlin expressed confidence that holding such festival would contribute to further development of cultural ties and rapprochement of Kazakhstan and Germany.
