Germany to build state-of-the-art facility at EXPO-2017 pavilion in Astana

BERLIN. July 11. KAZINFORM On July 9-10, the First Deputy Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan, the Commissioner of the International specialized exhibition "EXPO-2017" Rapil Zhoshybayev paid a working visit to Germany.

In Berlin, Mr. Zhoshybayev held talks with Emily Haber, the State Secretary of the Federal Foreign Office of Germany, Karl-Ernst Brauner, the Deputy Federal Minister of Economics and Technology, Andreas von Schuman, the Director of GIZ AgenZ Agency for market-oriented concepts, Andrej Gross, Deutsche Messe's Director for Russia, and a number of foreign investors.

During the meeting at the German Federal Foreign Office, the sides exchanged views on the relevant issues of bilateral and international cooperation. Both the Kazakh and German reps commended high level of dynamic and fruitful interaction between the countries, reflected in a sustainable political dialogue, strengthening and expansion of the commercial and economic collaboration, solid contractual basis and expanding cultural ties.

Utmost attention was paid to the situation in Afghanistan and the Middle East, counter-terrorism and extremism and cooperation between Kazakhstan and the EU. The sides also touched upon the implementation of joint projects in the field of technology transfer, establishment of KazAID agency, development of dual system of education in Kazakhstan and support of Kazakhstan's bid to host the 22nd World Petroleum Congress in Astana in 2017.

With the leadership of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technologies Rapil Zhoshybayev discussed problems related to the implementation of agreements reached by President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev and Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel during the meeting in Berlin in February 2012 and the future of commercial and economic and industrial and technology cooperation of the two nations.

Development of the Kazakh-German cooperation in terms of Kazakhstan's transition to green economy and preparations for the International specialized exhibition "EXPO-2017" in Astana was also in the focus of the meeting.

In addition, Deputy Federal Minister of Economics and Technology Brauner announced Germany's plan to construct a state-of-the-art facility on the territory of the EXPO-2017 pavilion in the Kazakh capital that will be dedicated to construction and related use of alternative energy sources.

Director of GIZ AgenZ Agency Andreas von Schuman and Deutsche Messe's Director for Russia Andrej Gross reiterated interest of their organizations in the preparations for EXPO-2017 in Astana and their wish to share their extensive and hands-on experience in organization and running of the large-scale international exhibition events around the world. Upon completion of the meeting the sides agreed to deepen cooperation for these purposes.

Attraction of foreign investments and organization of the International specialized exhibition in Astana was debated during the talks with foreign investors.
