Germany to modernize Kazakh energy sector: Angela Merkel

BERLIN. February 4. KAZINFORM /Aigul Tulekbayeva/ Following results of the meeting Kazakhstan?s President Nursultan Nazarbayev and Germany?s Chancellor Angela Merkel made an announcement for mass media. Currently the Head of the State is making a working visit to Germany; Kazinform reports.

Leaders of the two countries noted that bilateral relations have improved significantly. According to A.Merkel, Germany is planing to participate in modernization of the Kazakh energy sector. ?Germany can make an important contribution to diversification of the Kazakh economy by technologies in the sphere of renewable sources?, she said. The Federal Chancellor noted that Germany supported request of Kazakhstan on chairmanship in the OSCE and is ready to continue it in all necessary matters. The Kazakh President, in his turn, emphasized that Germany and Kazakhstan have strengthen friendly ties. Mutual trade turnover exceeded EURO 6 bln. Nowadays the German investments in Kazakhstan have reached USD 4 bln. The Head of the State noted that this visit is notable for an opening of ?The Year of Kazakhstan in Germany?. Within the Year over 40 events in the spheres of economy, medicine, science and culture are planned to be held. Within the meeting it was discussed that the German diaspora in Kazakhstan and German migrants are a great connecting link in bilateral relations.
