Golden Empire TV drama shooting to start in Kazakhstan
The Golden Empire project creative crew convened at the Karga Seven Pictures Film Studio in Istanbul on January 14, 2024, Kazinform News Agency reports.
State Councilor of Kazakhstan Yerlan Karin, and co-founders of the Karga Seven Pictures Film Studio Emre Sahin and Fikret Manoglu attended the meeting to approve the final version of the script of all six episodes of the TV drama and its main cast.
350 actors, including 250 from Kazakhstan and 100 from Sweden, Belgium, England, Germany, the US and Mongolia were selected out of more than 4,000 applications. Costumes, decorations and sets were presented at the meeting.
Initially, it was planned to shoot no more than 40% of film parts in Kazakhstan. Following comprehensive studies of filming locations, general producer and film director Emre Sahin decided to relocate the shooting of the TV drama to Kazakhstan slated for this February.
The second casting for children’s and supporting roles will be announced soon.
Notably, the production team studied the history of the Ulus of Jochi, the Golden Horde, cultural values and the life of nomads and Kazakhs.
The history of the Golden Horde has already captivated great interest of international audience and distributors. The new TV drama promises to become a large-scale project to attract attention around the world.
It is worth reminding that the Kazakh film "Bauryna Salu" won a special prize at France’s Cinema Heritage Festival.
