Google has revealed its top trending searches for 2024, offering a closer look into the events, people, and moments that captured the world’s attention over the past year. “Copa América” and the “UEFA European Championship” lead the way in the sports search landscape. Cricket also made an impact, with the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup and the India vs. England secured spots among the top searches. Meanwhile, Norwegian swimmer Henrik Christiansen’s love for “Olympics chocolate muffins” turned the treat into a trend and global sensation, making it the most searched recipe of the year.

In the world of politics, the “U.S. Election” topped news-related searches. Figures such as Donald Trump and Kamala Harris featured prominently in searches, as did Catherine, Princess of Wales. Elsewhere, rising concerns over climate change and natural disasters were reflected in searches for “excessive heat” and Hurricane Milton.

Among actors, Katt Williams led the trends, followed by Pawan Kalyan and Adam Brody. Inside Out 2 was the most searched movie, with Deadpool 3 and Beetlejuice 2 following, reflecting on the year of sequels. In television, Baby Reindeer and Fallout topped the list, while HBO’s House of the Dragon maintained its position as a global favorite.
