GOVERNMENT: Kazakhstan modernizes energy sector

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Last week, the Government has considered a number of important issues of economic development and modernization of the country's energy complex.

The meeting, led by the First Deputy Prime Minister Bakytzhan Sagintayev, discussed the implementation of investment programs in the framework of the limits of tariffs for electricity generation by large power plants such as GRES-1, GRES-2 and "Almaty Power Stations" JSC. Following the meeting B.Sagintayev gave special instructions to the heads of energy companies. B.Sagintayev also held the 17th meeting of the Interagency Commission on business regulation. The round table has reviewed the issues of the cotton industry development. Vice-Minister for Investments Yerlan Sagadiyev presented in Majilis amendments to the legislation on improving special economic zones. The Government plans to create a single coordination center on SEZ management on the basis of Kaznex Invest JSC. Deputy Minister of National Economy Timur Zhaksylykov met with the recently appointed to the post of head of the Asian Development Bank in Kazakhstan Jinlin Yang. The meeting discussed the possibility of implementing new regional projects in the framework of the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC). There have been also considered prospects for further cooperation in trade, energy, transport and trade facilitation in Kazakhstan. On January 12, 2015 Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Ukraine Zautbek Turisbekov held a meeting with the Chairman of the Luhansk Regional State Administration Gennady Moskal. During the meeting further cooperation between Luhansk region and the regions of the Republic of Kazakhstan were discussed. Chairman Moskal expressed his sincere gratitude to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev and the people of Kazakhstan for the humanitarian aid. He emphasized the importance and timeliness of the humanitarian assistance and assured that the humanitarian aid will be distributed among the needy residents of the south-eastern regions of Ukraine.
